The Makueni Avocado Summit 2025, held at KIE Grounds, Kikima, Mbooni, brought together farmers, agribusiness leaders, exporters, and policymakers to shape the future of Kenya’s avocado industry.
The summit addressed key challenges such as market exploitation, price instability, and post-harvest losses, giving farmers a platform to voice their concerns and seek lasting solutions. Sponsors and exhibitors played a vital role by offering training on best farming practices, safe agrochemical use, organic production, value addition, and quality management.
Several companies also pledged to buy directly from farmers, eliminating brokers and ensuring fair, transparent trade. Others introduced credit facilities, market linkages, and technological innovations to support sustainable avocado production.
